Ladbrokes

Ladbroke’s is the UK’s largest betting company and the largest retail bookmaker in the world with over 2200 betting shops in the UK, Ireland, Italy and Belgium.

The company was founded in the 1880s as commission agents backing horses trained at Ladbroke Hall in Warwickshire and later took on the Ladbroke’s name. The company was bought in 1956 by Cyril Stein ahead of UK legislation which allowed the opening of betting shops in 1961.

With the advent of on-line betting the Ladbroke’s brand is one of the most instantly recognised gambling brands in the world and its good name will have a strong role to play as the company expands into new markets.
