The first 3D TV set in the UK has gone on sale in London.
The set – the Samsung C7000 – is the first consumer 3D TV to hit store shelves and has gone on sale at John Lewis’s flagship store on Oxford Street in London.
The 40-inch set will also be available online.

John Kempner, buyer for vision at John Lewis says, “3D TV is an incredibly exciting technology, and once again John Lewis is first to market. Manufacturers like to use us as their launch partner because our customers are always early adopters of new technology.”
“It is worth remembering that even though 3DTV content is limited at the moment, this new breed of TV provides fantastic picture quality for regular 2D viewing, so a 3DTV is a great investment purchase,” Mr Kempner added.

The cost of the Samsung C7000: a cool £1799.

In addition you’ll need the special 3D glasses and these come in at £149 for two pairs although John Lewis are offering two free pairs of 3D glasses if the £349 3D Blu Ray player is purchased on top of the 3D TV. Purchasers will also get a copy of animated Dreamworks film Monsters vs Aliens on DVD.
